Many Cypriots have usually taken the first step into the accounting profession through completing an LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) bookkeeping qualification. However, AAT’s (Association of Accounting Technicians) recent launch in Cyprus now gives these students a fast track route to becoming a qualified accountant by offering exemptions to LCCI students and completers.
AAT representatives were present at the Cyprus International ‘Education and Career’ Exhibition to outline the relationships between the LCCI and AAT qualifications. Rob Alder, Head of Business Development at AAT, said: “AAT’s accounting qualifications can be studied by anyone, even if they have no previous qualifications. Those who have studied LCCI can get the benefit of exemptions from certain AAT modules, which will help them qualify faster and with less exams.
“AAT also offers several exemptions into universities as well as the opportunity to earn UCAS points at completion of the Advanced Diploma and exemptions towards chartered qualifications such as ACCA and ICAEW (ACA).”
AAT was founded in the UK in 1980 and launched its qualifications in Cyprus last year, partnering with the European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF) in Nicosia and Limassol.
Rob Alder added: “We have developed our qualifications to benefit anyone who wants to begin a successful career in accounting. Our approach combines the latest industry knowledge with practical skills, to ensure accounting professionals are trained to a high standard, and once qualified can help businesses with their finances immediately.”
